As Pakistan’s RAHA Program has been imparting livelihood training to numerous ARs for 07 years, the RAHA Secretariat (RS) and RAHA Cell (RC) of Chief Commissionerate of Afghan Refugees (CCAR) were tasked to plan, manage and implement the SDP. The intensity of GoP’s focus on SDP is manifest in the fact that Batch-1 of the SDP has completed its skill training courses between 15 Jan~16 Apr 2017 and Batch-2’s training is being planned to start soon.
The SDP imparted skills training in 09 different marketable trades to 495 male and 260 female ARs and Pakistani youth in the First Batch (Jan ~ Apr 17). A combination of public and private Institutes was selected to impart Skills under SDP. The training was conducted both in Institutes and AR Camps to facilitate maximum refugees. The quota achieved for trainees from ARs’ youth was 68%. A comprehensive monitoring mechanism was developed in which PM-RC, assisted by SDP-IU ensured proper reporting and record keeping of all the activities.
To keep the trainees invested in SDP a monthly stipend of Rs 3000/month and a tool kit was provided to each trainee.
